The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation primarily through investment in European equities. At the Annual Meeting of Stockholders held on June 19, 2014, stockholders voted to approve a proposal to change the Fund's fundamental investment objective from seeking "long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity or equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in countries in Europe that utilize the euro currency" to seeking "long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity or equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in countries that are members of the European Union" and to make corresponding changes to the Fund's related fundamental investment policy so that it reads that "under normal circumstances at least 80% of the Fund's net assets (plus any assets funded with leverage) will be invested in equity or equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in countries that are members of the European Union." As a result of these changes, the Fund's benchmark changed from the MSCI EMU Index to the MSCI Europe Index effective July 1, 2014. The Fund expects that ordinarily substantially all of its assets will be invested in securities of issuers domiciled in European countries.
