Program Provides Transportation Support for Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor
FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial or the Company) today announced the expansion of its Cool Cars for Remarkable Kids program in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor, addressing a unique mobility challenge for children and families visiting the House. At Ronald McDonald Houses across the U.S., the Companys Cool Cars program enables families many of whom have traveled miles from their homes for medical treatment for their sick children to have access to GM Financial late-model vehicles for transportation support during their stay.
Among the myriad of challenges confronting Ronald McDonald House visitors is access to reliable and cost-effective transport to and from hospitals and treatment centers, said Dan Berce, President and CEO of GM Financial. Our Cool Cars for Remarkable Kids program seeks to meet this need by offering a mobility solution for Ronald McDonald House families. We are pleased to extend the program in Boston and contribute to the critically important work this organization is doing for the children and families it serves.
The Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor, which opened in January 2017, is the 18thRonald McDonald House to receive a vehicle since program launch, joining locations across Texas, North Carolina, Arizona and Michigan, all regions where the Company maintains a significant commercial or employment presence. In total, GM Financial plans to deliver approximately 30 vehicles nationwide through this program in 2017.
The housing need for families visiting Boston for its world-class hospitals is critical, said Karen McEachern, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England. The Cool Cars for Remarkable Kids program provides families seamless transportation between their apartment here at the Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor to their treatment hospitals another way we can now deliver on our mission to keep families close.
Cool Cars for Remarkable Kids builds on GM Financials Mobility Initiative a multifaceted effort aimed at creating opportunities for upward mobility in communities across North America. This platform also includes Keys by GM Financial, which helps consumers unlock smarter financial futures by bridging the financial literacy gap through a combination of live trainings with community partners and online financial education tools and resources.
