Unum Group completes senior notes offering

Unum Group (NYSE:UNM) announced today that it has completed an offering of $400 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes due in 2029 with an annual coupon rate of 4.000 percent. The net proceeds of the offering are expected to be used for general corporate purposes, including the repayment at maturity of our outstanding 5.625% senior notes due September 2020. Pending the use of the net proceeds from the offering, we intend to invest the net proceeds in interest-bearing short-term investments and investment grade securities.

Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC and HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. were joint active book-running managers.
