Aqua Metals and Clarios Amend Strategic Supply Agreement

Globe Newswire 28-Jun-2019 8:01 AM

MCCARRAN, Nev., June 28, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aqua Metals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AQMS), which is reinventing lead recycling with its AquaRefining™ technology, today announced that it has signed an amendment with Clarios setting parameters for finalizing an Equipment Supply Agreement.

"I am pleased to announce that discussions with Clarios related to an equipment licensing agreement remain robust," stated Steve Cotton, President and Chief Executive Officer.  "This latest amendment creates condition-based parameters that are in line with our internal production targets for 16 modules. With a viable recycling facility identified and negotiations progressing as we work towards meeting the metrics, we expect to move forward quickly to finalize the agreement once the metrics are achieved."

The amendment identifies specific performance metrics including AquaRefining module performance and uptime, electrolyte usage, feed rates of AquaRefined material and emissions for the existing AquaRefinery located in McCarran, Nevada as conditions precedent to finalizing an agreement to license AquaRefining equipment.

Brian Wycklendt, Director of Lead and Recycling Strategy, added, "We look forward to continued discussions with Aqua Metals related to equipment licensing as well as increasing volumes of ultra-pure AquaRefined lead delivered to our battery manufacturing facilities."

About Aqua Metals
Aqua Metals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AQMS) is reinventing lead recycling with its patented AquaRefining™ technology. Unlike smelting, AquaRefining is a room temperature, water-based process that emits less pollution. The modular systems are intended to allow the Company to vastly reduce environmental impact and scale lead acid recycling production capacity by licensing the AquaRefining technology to partners. This would meet growing demand for lead to power new applications including stop/start automobile batteries which complement the vehicle's main battery, Internet data centers, alternative energy applications including solar, wind, and grid scale storage. Aqua Metals is based in McCarran, NV, and has built its first recycling facility in Nevada's Tahoe Reno Industrial Complex.
