Alliance Coal Awards Scholarships to 15 Graduates

TULSA, Okla., July 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ:ARLP) this week announced the 15 outstanding graduating seniors receiving Alliance Coal Scholars Program scholarships. In addition, the top-ranked students selected five teachers for the program's teacher recognition awards.

Alliance Coal grants $2,000 renewable scholarships to the top five seniors. The next ten highest-ranking candidates receive $1,000 scholarships. Since the program was founded in 1996, $424,500 has been awarded in scholarships to 220 students. An additional $39,500 has been presented to their teachers.

Selected scholars are employees' sons and daughters pursuing postsecondary education in college and vocational school programs. The program recognizes their contributions to the community, leadership in school activities, and academic achievements.

In addition to recognizing their achievements and contributing to their continuing education, this program also helps Alliance Coal identify and cultivate top talent for the future.

The top five students, awarded $2,000 renewable scholarships, are:

Micah Center, graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky, son of Doug Center, employed by Warrior Coal, LLC. Micah will major in engineering at the United States Air Force Academy in USAF Academy, Colorado.

Gracey Kelley, graduate of Webster County High School in Dixon, Kentucky, daughter of Morris Kelley, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Gracey will major in chemical engineering at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

Alleson Short, graduate of Muhlenberg County High School in Greenville, Kentucky, daughter of Jonathan Short, employed by Warrior Coal, LLC. Alleson will study sports medicine at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

Jacob Styer, graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky, son of Sarah Styer, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Jacob will major in physics at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

Mackenzie Swinford, graduate of Pope County Community High School in Golconda, Illinois, daughter of Nicholas Swinford, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Mackenzie will study nursing at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Illinois.

The scholars receiving $1,000 awards are:

Madison Ferguson, graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky, daughter of Kevin Ferguson, employed by Matrix Design Group, LLC. Madison will major in speech-language pathology at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

Madelin Hancock, graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky, daughter of Justin Hancock, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Madelin will study nursing at Madisonville Community College in Madisonville, Kentucky.

Savannah Lee, graduate of Kiefer High School in Kiefer, Oklahoma, daughter of Misty Sloan, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Savannah will major in pre-dentistry at Tulsa Community College in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Heath Lovell, graduate of Mater Dei High School in Evansville, Indiana, son of Heath Lovell, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Heath will study computer engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Marissa Lynn, graduate of Henderson County High School in Henderson, Kentucky, daughter of Jason Lynn, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Marissa will major in chemistry at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.

Logain North, graduate of Henderson County High School in Henderson, Kentucky, son of Matthew North, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Logain will major in aerospace engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama.

Shainna Ralston, graduate of Eldorado High School in Eldorado, Illinois, daughter of Aaron Shane Ralston, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Shainna will major in pre-pharmacy at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Illinois.

Krystiana Schiffli, graduate of Seton Home School in Front Royal, Virginia, daughter of Chris Schiffli, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Krystiana will major in creative writing at John Paul the Great Catholic University in Escondido, California.

Jordan Stewart, graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky, daughter of Jason Stewart, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Jordan will study nursing at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mitchell Wilson, graduate of Mount Vernon Senior High School in Mount Vernon, Indiana, son of Robert Scott Wilson, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Mitchell will major in mechanical engineering at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana.

The Alliance Coal Teacher Achievement Awards of $500 honor teachers selected by each of the top five scholarship recipients.

This year's teacher awards go to: Kelsey Beshears of Madisonville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky; Nicole Clements of Webster County High School in Dixon, Kentucky; Benjamin Herzog of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky; Laura Hosfeldt of Pope County Community High School in Golconda, Illinois; and Josh Stewart of Muhlenberg County High School in Greenville, Kentucky.
