Coloradans Can Now Receive Flag Status Notifications through Gov2Go

Business Wire 19-Jul-2019 8:00 AM

Is the flag at half-staff or full-staff and why? Coloradans have a new and convenient way to always know the answer. Gov2Go—the first, personal government assistant—will send notifications to their cell phones when there is a flag status update.

"Our service desk for the state's official website, Colorado.gov, fields a good number of questions about flag status. It's a popular topic," said Colorado Interactive's President and General Manager, Mike Ansley. "With Gov2Go already notifying citizens about services they need to take care of, such as vehicle registration renewals, it also provides an efficient way to notify them about flag status."

After citizens download Gov2Go at https://www.colorado.gov/sipa/gov2go and create an account, they select Flag Status Updates from the services menu. When the state of Colorado issues a flag status update, Gov2Go will send citizens a notification by text and email. Text notifications will contain the flag status (half- or full-staff) and the reason for it. Email notifications will provide complete details.

"One of the coolest features on the Governor's website, for some years now, has been flag status updates," said SIPA Executive Director, Jack Arrowsmith. "With Gov2Go, we can take flag status information and push it to citizens' phones. Just another way that Gov2Go is increasing transparency and easier access to government information."

Colorado Interactive (CI) and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) added Flag Status Updates as a service in Gov2Go. CI, an NIC company, provides digital government services to state agencies, local governments and educational entities through a contract with SIPA—the official internet portal connecting the public with Colorado government. The partnership's mission allows government leaders to focus on delivering on-demand, digital government solutions without requests for proposals or the use of tax appropriations. The CI and SIPA partnership has benefited more than 40 state-department programs.
