NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / August 8, 2017 / U.S. markets continued to reach new record highs Monday, with the Dow closing at a new record for the ninth consecutive session. The S&P 500 Index also closed at a new record high for the first time since July 26th. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.12 percent to close at a record 22,118.42, up 11.92 percent year-to-date, while the S&P 500 Index increased 0.16 percent to close at a record 2,480.91, up 10.81 percent year-to-date. The NASDAQ Composite Index rose 0.51 percent to close at 6,383.77. The tech sector was lifted by strong performances from semiconductor stocks on Monday.
"It's really hard to see anything that could send the market for a stumble," said Bruce McCain, Chief Investment Strategist at Key Private Bank. "Earnings have been pretty good. ... At some point, we're going to hit a roadblock but right now it's hard to see what that will be."
