The primary investment objectives of the Fund are current income and long-term growth of income. Capital appreciation is a secondary objective. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objectives by investing primarily in the public utility industry. Under normal market conditions, more than 65% of the Fund’s total assets are invested in a diversified portfolio of equity and fixed income securities of public utility companies engaged in the production, transmission or distribution of electric energy, gas or telephone services. The Fund does not currently use derivatives and has no investments in complex or structured investment vehicles. The Fund seeks to provide investors with a stable monthly dividend that is primarily derived from current fiscal year earnings and profits. The use of leverage enables the Fund to borrow at short-term rates and invest at longer-term rates.
