First Trust Advisors L.P. Announces Distribution for First Trust Income Opportunities ETF
Business Wire (Mon, 12-Jan 4:10 PM ET)
The First Trust Income Opportunities ETF (formerly First Trust CEF Income Opportunity ETF) (the "Fund") seeks to provide current income with a secondary emphasis on total return. Under normal market conditions, the Fund seeks to achieve its investment objectives by investing in a portfolio of closed-end investment companies ("closed-end funds") and exchange-traded funds ("ETFs") that are listed and traded in the United States on registered exchanges. Closed-end funds and ETFs are managed registered investment companies which invest in various types of securities. Both closed-end funds and ETFs trade on a securities exchange and their shares may, at times, trade at a premium or discount to their net asset value. As a shareholder in a pooled investment vehicle, the Fund will bear its ratable share of an underlying fund's expenses and would remain subject to payment of the underlying fund's advisory and administrative fees with respect to assets so invested.
First Trust Income Opportunities ETF trades on the NASDAQ stock market under the symbol FCEF.
As of January 22, 2026, FCEF stock price climbed to $23.40 with 7,956 million shares trading.
FCEF has a market cap of $67.99 million. This is considered a Micro Cap stock.
In the last 3 years, FCEF traded as high as $23.45 and as low as $17.63.
FCEF has underperformed the market in the last year with a return of +12.8%, while SPY returned +15.5%. This shows that you would have done better investing in the overall market (through SPY) over the last year than in FCEF shares. However, FCEF has outperformed the market in the last 3 month and 2 week periods, returning +4.7% and +2.1%, while SPY returned +2.9% and -0.1%, respectively. This indicates FCEF has been having a stronger performance recently.
FCEF support price is $23.18 and resistance is $23.40 (based on 1 day standard deviation move). This means that using the most recent 20 day stock volatility and applying a one standard deviation move around the stock's closing price, stastically there is a 67% probability that FCEF shares will trade within this expected range on the day.
