The Fund seeks to track the investment results, before fees and expenses, of the TIAA ESG Emerging Markets Equity Index (the Index ). The Fund employs a passive management (or indexing ) approach, investing all or substantially all of its assets in the securities represented in the Index in approximately the same proportions as the Index. The Index uses a rules-based methodology to arrive at a diversified portfolio of equity securities issued by companies located in countries with emerging markets that adhere to predetermined ESG, controversial business involvement and low-carbon criteria. The Index is rebalanced quarterly.
