| Investment Objective: | The Fund employs a passive management (or indexing ) approach, seeking to track the investment results, before fees and expenses, of the TIAA ESG USA Small-Cap Index2 (the Index ). The Fund generally invests in substantially all or a sample of the securities in the Index whose risk, return and other characteristics resemble the risk, return and other characteristics of the Index. Under normal market conditions, the Fund invests at least 80% of its assets, exclusive of collateral held from securities lending, in component securities of the Index. The Index is composed of equity securities issued by small-capitalization companies listed on U.S. exchanges that meet certain environment, social and governance ( ESG ) criteria. |
