Monday - April 14

 

  • Volatility watch - Azul S.A. (AZUL) and Strategy (MSTR) have a high level of implied volatility based on options trading. Hertz Global Holdings (HTZ) and PureCycle Technologies (PCT) have an elevated level of short interest outstanding on them heading into the new week. The most overbought stocks per their 14-day relative strength index include Chimerix (CMRX), OptiNose (OPTN), and First Capital (FCAP). The most oversold stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index include Open Lending (LPRO), Curis (CRIS), and Conduent (CNDT). Analysts have also circled Aurora Innovation (AUR) as a stock to watch, with the autonomous driving tech company closing in on a commercial driverless launch in Texas.
  • Tariff check - A baseline 10% tariff on all imports into the U.S. began on April 5. China faces much higher tariff rates.
  • IPO watch - Haoxin Holdings (HXHX), Chagee Holdings (CHA), Airo Group (AIRO), OMS Energy Technologies (OMSE), and Jyong Biotech (MENS) are all expected to price their IPOs and begin trading during the week.
  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Goldman Sachs (GS) and M&T Bank (MTB).
  • 12:00 p.m. Richmond Federal Reserve Bank President Thomas Barkin will speak on "Driving Through the Economic Fog" before the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.
  • All day - Notable investor events include HP's (HPQ) annual meeting, Ionis Pharmaceuticals' (IONS) investor day.
  • All day - The tender offer for QXO (QXO) to acquire Beacon Roofing (BECN) expires. Beacon Roofing traded about 1.2% below the deal price at the time of publication.
  • All day - OPEC will publish its monthly oil market report.
  • All day - A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket is scheduled to launch a batch of 27 of Amazon's (AMZN) Project Kuiper internet satellites, which will be the first production satellites for Amazon's satellite internet megaconstellation.
  • All day - Meta Platforms (META) will face off against the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in a high-stakes antitrust trial that could lead to Instagram and WhatsApp being divested.
  • 7:40 p.m. Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Raphael Bostic speaks on monetary policy in a moderated conversation hosted by Emory University.

 

Tuesday - April 15

 

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Albertsons (ACI), Bank of America (BAC), Citigroup (C), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), PNC Financial (PNC), and United Airlines (UAL). Options trading implies a share price swing of 8% for JB Hunt (JBHT) after its report is released.
  • All day - The three-day Salesforce (CRM) Tableau Conference will begin.
  • 9:40 a.m. General Motors (GM) will participate in the Bank of America Securities Auto Summit.

 

Wednesday - April 16

 

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Abbott Laboratories (ABT), U.S. Bancorp (USB), Travelers (TRV), Kinder Morgan (KMI), and CSX (CSX). Options trading implies a double-digit share price swing for Alcoa (AA) after its report.
  • All day - Subaru (OTCPK:FUJHY), Hyundai (OTCPK:HYMTF), Maserati (STLA), Toyota (TM), and AB Volvo's (OTCPK:VOLAF) Mack Trucks will hold press events at the New York International Auto Show.
  • All day - DocuSign (DOCU) will hold its Momentum NYC event. CEO Allan Thygesen will give a keynote speech. Last year, DocuSign rallied after it showcased its new platform at the event.
  • All day - Daktronics (DAKT) will hold a special shareholder meeting to vote on a reincorporation proposal and other matters. The reincorporation vote is part of a broader agreement between Daktronics and Alta Fox, which included a standstill agreement and Alta Fox agreeing to support the move to Delaware from South Dakota.
  • 8:30 a.m. The U.S. Census Bureau will release the March Retail Sales report.
  • 9:40 a.m. Ford Motor (F) Vice Chair John Lawler will participate in the Bank of America Securities Auto Summit. Lawler will join analyst John Murphy for a fireside chat to discuss how the Ford+ plan is remaking Ford into a higher growth, higher margin, more capital efficient company.
  • 12:00 p.m. Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank President Beth Hammack will speak on "Fed 101" and participate in a moderated question-and-answer session at an event in Columbus.
  • 4:50 p.m. Rivian Automotive (RIVN) CFO Claire McDonough will participate in the Bank of America Securities 2025 Automotive Summit.

 

Thursday - April 17

 

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Taiwan Semi (TSM), UnitedHealth Group (UNH), Netflix (NFLX), American Express (AXP), Ally Financial (ALLY), and Charles Schwab (SCHW).
  • All day - Shareholders with Playa Hotels & Resorts (PLYA) will vote on the proposed merger with Hyatt Hotels (H).
  • All day - President Trump and Italian Prime Minister Meloni are scheduled to meet for tariff talks.
  • 7:45 a.m. The European Central Bank will announce its rate decision.
  • 8:30 p.m. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde will hold a press conference.

 

Friday - April 18

 

  • All day - The U.S. stock markets will be closed for the Good Friday holiday.
  • All day - It is the FDA action date for Sanofi's (SNY) Dupixent for Chronic spontaneous urticaria.
