Qualcomm ticks up as chipmaker officially unveils Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

- Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) shares ticked up fractionally on Wednesday as the San Diego-based chipmaker officially unveiled its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset.
- The chipset, which is believed to use Taiwan Semiconductor's (TSM) 4 nanometer process, will offer support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UFS 4.0 and other technologies. It
- also offers a 49% improvement on graphics compared to the previous generation Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, Qualcomm added.
- Qualcomm also said the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has artificial intelligence-related improvements compared to the previous generation, with the system-on-a-chip showing a 44% performance improvement due to a better neural processing unit.
- The Cristiano Amon-led company did not say when the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset would be available, but it is expected to be used by several Android handset makers in the near future.
