BlackRock Resources & Commodities Strategy Trust’s (BCX) (the “Trust”) primary investment objective is to seek high current income and current gains, with a secondary objective of capital appreciation. The Trust will seek to achieve its investment objectives, under normal market conditions, by investing at least 80% of its total assets in equity securities issued by commodity or natural resources companies, derivatives with exposure to commodity or natural resources companies or investments in securities and derivatives linked to the underlying price movement of commodities or natural resources. While permitted, the Trust does not currently expect to invest in securities and derivatives linked to the underlying price movement of commodities or natural resources. The Trust seeks to pursue this goal primarily by investing in a portfolio of equity securities and utilizing an option overwriting strategy in an effort to seek total return performance and enhance distributions. On July 30, 2014, the Boards of each of the Trust, BlackRock Real Asset Equity Trust (“BCF”) and BlackRock EcoSolutions Investment Trust (“BQR”) approved the reorganizations of BCF and BQR with and in to the Trust, with the Trust continuing as the surviving fund after the reorganizations. At a special meeting of shareholders on November 10, 2014, the shareholders of the Trust, BCF and BQR approved the reorganizations of BCF and BQR with and in to the Trust. The reorganization was completed on December 8, 2014. The Board of the Trust approved a change of the fiscal year of the Trust from October 31st to December 31st.
