Global Payments is a leading provider of payment processing and software solutions and focuses on serving small and midsize merchants. The company operates in 30 countries and generates about one fourth of its revenue from outside North America, primarily in Europe and Asia. In 2019, Global Payments merged with Total System Services in an all-stock deal that gave Total System Services shareholders 48% of the combined company's shares. The merger added issuer processing operations.
Global Payments trades on the NYSE stock market under the symbol GPN.
As of January 8, 2025, GPN stock price declined to $111.39 with 1,328,510 million shares trading.
GPN has a beta of 0.59, meaning it tends to be less sensitive to market movements. GPN has a correlation of 0.08 to the broad based SPY ETF.
GPN has a market cap of $28.34 billion. This is considered a Large Cap stock.
Last quarter Global Payments reported $2 billion in Revenue and $3.08 earnings per share. This fell short of revenue expectation by $-23 million and missed earnings estimates by -$.04.
In the last 3 years, GPN traded as high as $152.99 and as low as $91.60.
The top ETF exchange traded funds that GPN belongs to (by Net Assets): VTI, VOO, VO, SPY, IVV.
GPN has underperformed the market in the last year with a return of -11.8%, while SPY returned +27.5%. This shows that you would have done better investing in the overall market (through SPY) over the last year than in GPN shares. However, GPN has outperformed the market in the last 3 month and 2 week periods, returning +14.4% and -1.4%, while SPY returned +4.2% and -2.0%, respectively. This indicates GPN has been having a stronger performance recently.
GPN support price is $110.61 and resistance is $113.95 (based on 1 day standard deviation move). This means that using the most recent 20 day stock volatility and applying a one standard deviation move around the stock's closing price, stastically there is a 67% probability that GPN shares will trade within this expected range on the day.
