What is this indicator?

The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) Composite is a monthly economic indicator that provides insight into the performance of the manufacturing and services sectors of an economy. It is based on surveys of purchasing managers in both sectors and is calculated by a number of private organizations and government agencies around the world.
